Last week we started some new succulent seeds as well as some current cacti seeds! We began by creating a 50/50 sand and seed starting mix.
Not packed too tight, just enough to create a smooth surface.
These seeds need to lay right on the surface, so we just created shallow dimples in the smoothed out sand and soil mix. Cacti seed is very small, so we were very careful to only plant one seed per dimple.
We did not cover the cactus seed at all, so be very careful when you water them.
The other succulent variety that we’re trialing, commonly referred to as ‘hens and chicks’, was simply sprinkled on the surface of the sand and soil mix. Again, be very careful with watering.
